It has been brought to Council’s attention that right turning vehicles from Belmont Road into Noble Street were causing a safety issue.

There are corner cutting issues by impatient drivers in Belmont Road turning right into Noble Street to avoid the queue at the crossing. This is a safety issue as many parents and children cross Noble Street. This pedestrian crossing has a crossing distance of approximately 13m without any infrastructure in the middle. Those crossing the road from east to west are particularly vulnerable as they are unsighted due to queued vehicles.

In October 2023, the Local Traffic Committee considered a report on Mosman Public School Safety Audit and resolved that:

  1. The proposal to install a pedestrian refuge on Noble Street at the intersection with Belmont Road be advertised for community feedback.
  2. The outcome of the community consultation be reported to the next available Traffic Committee meeting.

Accordingly, Council is seeking feedback/comments on the proposed pedestrian refuge on Noble Street at the Belmont Road intersection.

A copy of the design is attached.

If you wish to provide feedback/comments on the proposal complete the on-line survey attached or send by email or post to:

Closing date for responses is 15 May 2024.
