Consultation has concluded
Council is proposing to amend the archaeological heritage listings of former tram terminus and quarry sites in Mosman following a heritage review of sites.
The proposed amendments to Mosman Local Environmental Plan 2012 (the LEP) and Mosman’s Development Control Plans (the DCPs) are as follows:
Former tram terminus: Delete the LEP archaeological heritage listing of Item A484 ‘Former tram terminus’ in Avenue Road, and replace this with a new LEP general heritage listing applying only to the excavated wall associated with the former tram terminus, located wholly on public land within Avenue Road;
Former quarry sites: Remove the LEP archaeological heritage listings of Item A485 ‘Former stone quarry’ on 65A-69A Avenue Road and Item A488 ‘Site of former Harnett’s Quarry’ between Harnett Avenue and Royalist Road, and instead recognise the significance of the excavated quarry walls through the DCPs. The DCP Significant Rock Faces and Retaining Walls clause and map are proposed to be amended as a result.
The proposed amendments were considered by Council at its meeting on 4 July 2017.
The proposed amendments are on public exhibition from 31 August to 12 October 2017 at the Civic Centre from 8.30am to 5pm weekdays, and in the Document Library on this page.
Submissions are invited during this period, in writing to Council, and will be made publicly available unless you advise Council otherwise. Submissions can be made by email to council@mosman.nsw.gov.au, or by letter addressed to the General Manager, PO Box 211, Spit Junction NSW 2088.
The Minister for Planning has chosen to delegate the making of the LEP to Council.
Enquiries: Kelly Lynch, Senior Strategic Planner, 9978 4058.
