Consultation has concluded
At the Council Meeting on 3 May 2016 Council resolved to place a draft Car Share Policy on public exhibition.
Submissions can be made via the online form below or in writing to the General Manager, Mosman Council, PO Box 211, Spit Junction NSW 2088.
Submissions on the draft policy close on Friday 17 June 2016.
Definition of Car Share
For the purposes of this policy Car Sharing is defined as "a system established such that an operator owns one or more vehicles that are available to members on a shared basis. Vehicles are located locally and are available on demand, on a pay-as-you-go basis."
Why the Review?
The Car Share Policy has been developed at the request of Council. The policy aims to balance community expectations regarding parking accessibility with the allocation of appropriate costs and car spaces to support car share schemes.
This policy is a way of formalising Council's support for car share operators and the benefits that car sharing provides to the local community both socially, environmentally and financially.
Schedule of Fees
A new fee structure has been proposed in order to promote the use of car share schemes and allow Council to receive a fair return on its community asset.
It is proposed to introduce a new fee structure as follows to all designated car share spaces:
A one-off $400 non-refundable application fee for all new applications- this will cover the assessment, possible report to Traffic Committee and installation of line marking and signs.
A $290 fee per annum per space (including current spaces) thus receiving a fair return on community assets.
