In conjunction with the Australia Day Council of NSW, Mosman Council seeks nominations annually for the Mosman Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year. The Awards assist in fostering public spirit and recognise an individual's achievement and/or contribution through voluntary community service at a local level.
Eligibility Criteria
These awards are open to any person who has contributed in a significant way to the Mosman community. The Awards are open to:
Residents of Mosman who have made a particular effort during the preceding year for the benefit of Mosman, or have been involved in activities which have brought credit to the Mosman area.
Non-residents who have been involved in voluntary community service or other activities directly benefiting the Mosman community, environment, or bringing credit to Mosman.
Past award recipients have contributed to the community in a variety of ways, through involvement in education, health, sport, community groups, safety, local history, local events and festivals, the arts, youth services, church groups and the environment.
Award Categories
Citizen of the Year (Age: 19 years and over)
Young Citizen of the Year (Age: 12 to 18 years of age as at 26 January)

Assessment Criteria
When considering nominations, the Selection Panel may take into account:
achievements of the nominee in the year immediately prior to the Awards, as well as service to the community in the years prior to the Award year
benefit or credit to the community as a result of the nominee's contribution
specific or overall/ongoing significant contribution to the community
broad community involvement
personal dedication and motivation in their volunteering
any evidence that the nominee promotes a positive image of the community
any evidence that the nominee is a role model to their peers and the community at large
