Council’s draft Code of Meeting Practice is on public exhibition allowing members of the community to comment on the draft Code.

Council at its meeting on 4 June 2019 considered a report on the matter and resolved that:

  1. The draft Code of Meeting Practice as circulated be placed on public exhibition for at least 28 days and provide members of the community at least 42 days in which to comment on the draft Code pursuant to Section 361 of the Local Government Act 1993.
  2. A report to Council be prepared following the public exhibition for consideration and adoption pursuant to Section 362 of the Local Government Act 1993.

The report considered by Council together with the draft Code is available on this page in the document library.

The draft Code is based on the Model Code of Meeting Practice made by the Office of Local Government and prescribed by the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005. The draft Code for Mosman Council incorporates the mandatory provisions and selected non-mandatory provisions of the Model Code together with supplementary provisions specific to Mosman Council. The draft Code provided on this page shows the mandatory (black font), accepted non-mandatory (red font) and supplementary (blue font) provisions for reference. Provisions struck-out throughout the document are either non-applicable mandatory provisions or non-mandatory provisions not recommended for inclusion for the reasons set out in the report on the submission made in response to the consultation draft in February 2018 (which is also provided on this page in the document library).

Council is required to exhibit the draft Code prior to adoption. Following exhibition the matter will be reported back to Council at its meeting on 6 August 2019 for adoption.

Submissions close 26 July 2019.
