Mosman Council is developing a Community Engagement Strategy, and we want you to be a part of it. This strategy will shape how we communicate and engage with the Mosman community, businesses and stakeholders on important projects, plans, policies and decisions.

What is community engagement?

Community engagement is all about having your say to inform Council’s decision-making. Council engages with the community in many ways, including sending letters, sharing updates on social media, collecting feedback through surveys and holding face-to-face information stalls or workshops.

Community engagement is central to local government decision-making and democracy. It provides opportunities for Council to connect with the community, exchange information, collect feedback, and understand local needs and priorities.

Why are we preparing a Community Engagement Strategy?

It is a requirement for all councils to have a Community Engagement Strategy, as outlined in the Local Government Act 1993 and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. At the same time, Council would like to reaffirm our commitment to inclusive, transparent and accountable engagement, and build upon our Mosman Community Engagement Policy, Community Engagement Toolkit, and Community Participation Plan.

What will be in the Community Engagement Strategy?

The Community Engagement Strategy is a framework for how Council will work together with the community and other stakeholders to develop plans, policies, projects and more. The strategy will outline Council's approach to community engagement, including who, when and how Council will engage.
