The draft Mosman Local Housing Strategy has been prepared by Council to set out a clear plan for housing in Mosman over the next 20 years to meet anticipated demand.
Mosman’s population is projected to increase by 1,370 people to a population of 31,630 people by 2041, representing relatively modest growth compared to many parts of Greater Sydney. Over the coming years, the profile of our population is anticipated to change with an increasing proportion of older residents and more people living alone.
The draft Mosman Local Housing Strategy identifies how housing growth to accommodate the changing population is to be managed, including the delivery of housing supply targets set by the Greater Sydney Commission. It outlines five objectives for meeting Mosman's future housing needs:
Identify the right locations for housing growth, appropriate to environmental and infrastructure constraints.
Maintain housing choice to meet population needs.
Facilitate housing for an ageing population.
Encourage development that maintains or enhances local neighbourhood character and resident amenity.
Inform housing affordability issues.
All NSW councils are required to prepare a local housing strategy to meet requirements set by the NSW Government.
The draft Mosman Local Housing Strategy is on public exhibition until 27 September 2020.
